What happens next
Depending on the circumstances the initial steps can vary.
We are here to guide you through these initial procedures, so you are soon in a position to hand us responsibility for the subsequent funeral arrangements.
Death at home/care home
When an expected death occurs you will need to contact the deceased’s local GP or ring 101 if out of working hours. A medical specialist will then arrange to attend and complete the necessary administration so that we can then bring your loved one into our care promptly.
If the death was unexpected the coroner could possibly become involved, and we will liaise with them accordingly. The police may also need notifying.
Death in a hospital
Along with the hospital bereavement team, we will guide you in this process. The bereavement team will issue a medical certificate which is required to register the death and enable us to bring the deceased into our care.
Death out of the local community
Whether the death occurs in the UK or abroad, we can, through our established relations with reputable repatriation services, arrange for your loved one to be brought home and into our care.
